2. Skills duties
Skills you will need:
- Good maths skills to work out quantities/prices and areas.
- Understand building plans
- Health and safety awareness
Duties:
You will be in charge of bulldozers and dumper trucks, 180 and 360 degree excavators, mobile and crawler cranes, JCB’s and tower cranes.
You will be mainly working in environments such as major civil engineering projects, construction and house building sites, roadworks, demolition sites and quarries.
You will need to maintain your machine and change attachments to your machine.

Newly trained: £14,000 – £19,000
Experienced: £20,000 – £30,000
Highly Experience: £35,000
Salaries depend on location, employer and any overtime you may do. Self-employed 360 operatives set their own pay rates.
