Construction Cards and Qualification required

It is preferable to have some experience on a building site and there are no educational requirements to be a labourer/operative although some companies do prefer you to hold GCSEs in maths and english.

However you must have a Green CSCS Card (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) to work on a construction site. In order to gain a CSCS card you must pass a CITB health and safety test.

Newly trained labourers: £15,000

Experienced labourers: £16,000 - £21,000

Highly Experience labourers: £29,000

Salaries depend on location, employer and any overtime you may do. Self-employed general construction operatives set their own pay rates.
